This painting grew out of inspiration of seeing the shape fire had left in a piece of wood. Mountains grew out of this shape in my mind and this painting took on a life of its own. It is childlike and strange with its delicate strings attaching mountain to sky, as if things of great power could be tethered by such fragility, but for me they can be, and maybe this is what I hope the viewer will also see in this painting. I see great hope in the face of adversity in this painting.
